The waitlist shows an incorrect waitlist number

Problem
We have an issue where the waitlist number in Section Inquiry does not match the waitlist number given when someone adds themselves to a waitlist. Instead, we see a wide range of waitlist numbers listed, usually not in chronological order, and some randomly jump to number 277.
Solution
This is most likely due to the Waitlist Option set as anything other than "This Section only." This setting allows people to be on multiple waitlists and causes other people enrolling in programs that are not filled to go onto the Waitlist because there's someone already on the Waitlist. To resolve go to Global Sales, skip the household lookup, then change all individuals on the waitlist to "This Section Only".
Steps For Solution
- Navigate to Global Sales
- Click Skip > Skip household lookup
- Click on the Waitlist Tab
- Set Module to Activity
- Optional use the Activity picklist or the Begin Date field to narrow down results further
- Click Search Waitlist
- Highlight a waitlisted person from the DataGrid
- Click Change Waitlist Option
- Change the Waitlist Option to This Section Only.
- Repeat this process until all individuals linked to the problem section have the same waitlist option.
Once this is complete the waitlist numbers in Section Inquiry should accurately reflect the patron's position on that section's waitlist.
