Problem
Strange characters are showing up on receipts. What could cause this?
Solution
Comments that were originally copied and pasted from a PDF or Word doc into RecTrac can produce this problem due to format differences. You will need to visit where those Comments are in the RecTrac and retype the text that is formatted incorrectly.
Note:
Copying text from a PDF or Word document, pasting into a Notepad document, copying from the Notepad document, and pasting into RecTrac, is a recommended practice to 'wash' the text of any inconsistencies in characters or formatting.
Steps For Solution
- From the RecTrac main menu, go to the management screen where those comments are linked to the items.
- From the DataGrid, highlight the record.
- Click Change.
- Click on the Comments tab.
- Locate the comment that is displaying incorrectly, this can either be linked using a Comment Code or via free-form Comment Text.
- Delete and retype the special character that is formatted incorrectly.
- Click Save to save the record.
Return to Global Sales and perform a test transaction that would trigger the receipt comment you just edited. It should now display the special characters properly.
