Images not displaying in Hero-Slider Splash Page
RecTrac 3.1.10.31.00
Table of Contents
Problem
After switching or setting up the Hero-Slider splash page, the 4 rotating images in the slider are not showing. There is no 404 error or broken image, it's just blank. How can we fix these images?
Solution
Spaces and special characters, especially dashes, in the file name, will break the Hero-Slider. The "data-addui" element that controls the Hero Slider cannot accept files with these characters in the name.
Steps For Solution
- From the RecTrac main menu, go to Comment Mangement.
- From the DataGrid, highlight the splash page comment code, this will have a Record Type of WebTrac Reserved.
- If you do not know which splash page comment code you are using you can verify this from the Member Splash and Guest Splash fields located under the Miscellaneous Settings group on the WebTrac Parameters Profile.
- Click Change.
- Within the HTML code for the splash page, under the div tag with the class sp-hero-slider, you will see a list of images starting with <img src='<?VSI-ImagePath?>.
- The value following that tag contains the image file name, make note of the file names of the broken images
- On the Web Server, navigate to the directory where the image files are stored.
- The default image path is x:\vsi3\rectrac\webserver\WEB\images\ however, your setup may vary.
- Rename the images that contain spaces or special characters to a simpler file name.
- Return to RecTrac and from the main menu, go to Comment Mangement.
- From the DataGrid, highlight the splash page comment code.
- Click Change.
- Within the HTML code for the splash page, locate where the image files are linked using the information gathered in step 4.
- Update each image link with the new file names.
- Click Save.
Refresh your WebTrac site, your Hero Slider images should now display properly.
