Problem
On one workstation, we get an ETS Invalid Swipe message followed by the Debit Card/Credit Card selection screen. They are using an OMNI Barcode/MSR reader.
What's wrong and how can we fix?
Solution
To troubleshoot, we swiped the card in the MSR reader while in Notepad. We found that there was a carriage return between tracks, and no carriage return after the final postamble (terminator).
To make this change with the Omni Barcode reader you must first download/install the OMNI USB Reader Setup Utility from the VSI FTP Site. Please contact Vermont Systems Support for access to the FTP site and the location of this download utility.
From the Setup Utility send the following commands in this order (commands must be in ALL CAPS).
To set the correct Terminator:
/E/D/FD Clear Input
D1 Clear Input
B Clear Input
DZ Clear Input
To set the correct Separator:
/E/D/FH Clear Input
H4 Clear Input
N Clear Input
HZ Clear Input
Exit
After processing these commands; a swipe into Notepad should result in one continuous line of data followed by a single carriage return.
