3.1 Session Cleaner Email: Credit Card has been authorized and the transaction has been removed
Problem
Over the weekend, the following email was sent to our Admin mailing list. What does it mean and what should we do with it?
-------
Subject: RecTrac Session Ended - Credit Card Auth Exists
Receipt Number: 118008
Clerk: WWW-WebTrac User
Date: 05/14/2016
Time: 12:46 pm
Session Cleaner was run and a Credit Card Transaction was processed for this session/receipt number. You may have an instance where the Credit Card has been authorized and the transaction has been removed in RecTrac.
Solution
This message is normal. Most likely it was a WebTrac session that may have disconnected and left a session out there.
There can be a number of reasons this happens, such as the customer closing the browser too quickly after clicking 'Submit,' the customer losing their internet connection during the sale process, or the customer closing the browser as a means of trying to cancel the transaction, etc...
The Session Cleaner Scheduled Event would have ended the session, which reversed the transaction in RecTrac, but we cannot do that on the credit card processor side.
You should check with your Credit Card processor to ensure a bogus transaction was not processed and take the necessary steps to reverse charges on the customer's card, if necessary.
