10.3 and 3.1 MasterCard Credit Cards can now start with the number '2'
Problem
As of 01 January 2017, MasterCard credit cards can now begin with a 2 or a 5. What do we need to do in RecTrac to transition to this new numbering scheme?
Solution
To accommodate the new MasterCard starting digit of '2,' you will want to update your MasterCard Credit Card Payment Codes to include '2' as a valid prefix, so that when processing a new MasterCard, the RecTrac system will not reject the card as invalid.
Depending on your Credit Card Solution (CardConnect, ETS, PlugNPay, VeriFone Point), other changes may be required.
To Update Your MasterCard Payment Codes in RecTrac:
For RecTrac 3.1:
- Go to Payment Code Management (Management Ribbon > System Management > Financial Management Group > Payment Code Management group, in the Standard VSI Design).
- Highlight/select the Payment Code you use for MasterCard credit cards and click Change.
- In the Prefix Validation field, enter the number '2.' This field accepts a comma-delimited list, so be certain to offset the number 2 with a comma. For Example: If the Credit Card Payment Code was being used for VISA and MasterCard, and the Prefix Validation field contained the entries '4,5' then you would update the field entries to '2,4,5'
- Click Save. Changes take effect immediately.
- Repeat the above steps for any other Payment Codes you use for MasterCard Credit Cards.
For RecTrac 10.3 and previous
- Go to File Management > System > Finance Codes Maintenance > Payment Code Maintenance.
Exit RecTrac and log back in on each workstation for changes to take effect.
- Repeat the above steps for any other Payment Codes you use for MasterCard Credit Cards.
