Problem
No previous billing information found PlugNPay/RecTrac 3.1
Been getting questions on why PNP billing is failing for some patrons when last month billing worked for them.
Solution
Typically this is due to the fact that the credit card record linked to the installment billing record is not the record linked to the Plugnpay Account that the customer is running billing against.
The solution is to go into the installment billing record and change the credit card record linked from the RecTrac credit card record to the installment billing credit card record.
Going forward, the issue can be prevented by altering how the Merchant is set up for billing. The profile setup is key.
In a simple world the merchant might have 3 MIDs at the gateway (Retail,Moto,Ecom). In this case the installment billing credit card profile would need to be linked at the default level and we will have a working solution. Obviously it might get more complicated and that is when a larger discussion needs to be had to make sure we dont run into situations that can be prevented.
If you do Installment Billing/ACH, then you need a MOTO merchant account specific for billing.
1. Contact PlugNPay to create the account. Depending on how you run Installment Billing, you may need multiple accounts. PlugNPay will assist you with this determination.
2. Once you have the billing merchant account(s), use the information that provided by PlugNPay to set up a Credit Card profile for Installment Billing.
- If you have multiple MOTO accounts, then you will need an equal number of Credit Card profiles for Installment Billing.
3. Where you will link it in the Profile Hierarchy depends on how many MOTO accounts you have. When linking the profile, choose the Credit Card-Installment Billing option.
- If you have only one (1), then VSI recommends linking it at the Default level of hierarchy.
- If you have multiple Installment Billing profiles, then you will have to link them elsewhere in Profile Hierarchy.
4. If you have a Credit Card-Installment Billing profile, then the system will find it and use it for setting up bills REGARDLESS of whether you have a Credit Card Purchase profile linked higher in the Hierarchy.
- If you do not have a Credit Card-Installment Billing profile linked in Profile Hierarchy, then the system will use the Purchase profile. This may cause unexpected results.
