In this video, we're going to be going over how to create a manually prompted fee. So to do this, I'm going to start out in activity management. So I want to add this manually prompted fee to one of my activities. So I'm going to be selecting this bike lessons program and clicking change. And while this is loading kind of the whole purpose of a manually prompted for you, how that's different from a normal fee is if we choose to manually prompt it when we hit add to cart for the item, it's going to actually, instead of charging the fee in the background, automatically apply it to the cart.
00:00:32:44 - 00:00:49:55

It's actually going to pop up the fee and we'll be able to choose if we want to charge the fee or not. So it's really an optional fee as the use case for it. So some things some people might need to add on and others might not need to be able to add on. So I'm going to go to the fees tab when I'm in my activity here.
00:00:50:36 - 00:01:10:18

And as you can see, I already have my standard fee set up. So if they're a nonresident, they'll get charged 100, the resident will get charged 75. So I'm going to be adding a new fee. So I'm going to click my add fee button and this is my bike lessons activities. So I'm going to call my manually prompted fee here a program lunch fee.
00:01:10:18 - 00:01:41:20
Dane Whitcomb
So if they want to get lunch through the program, they can choose this additional fee and that will cost $5. And I need to pick my revenue, GL code so I’m still going to bring it to my bike lessons, GL code I have created and my fee type is still going to be a standard fee for this prompted fee and it's still going to be a transaction type of purchase and we don't really need any criteria on it because it's not like we're saying only charge to these people.
00:01:41:48 - 00:02:00:19

We want it to prompt everyone and then everyone gets to choose if they want it or not. So really what we need to do is actually this fee group code field. So we're going to click this pick list here and I already have a manual fee, prompt several of them, but I'm going to be going over how to create one.
00:02:00:19 - 00:02:22:44
Dane Whitcomb
So if you don't have anything that already has a manual fee prompt and in this list you can just click ADD. And in this case I just got test fee prompt since I already have one called manual fee prompt. And actually we can leave the description. We'll put in test fee prompt for the description. Um, max fees allowed to be selected.
00:02:23:11 - 00:02:41:39
Dane Whitcomb
So in this fee group, I know there's only one, but if you have like three fee groups, all three fees, all in the same group you'd want to put in here how many of those fees you can select at once? So sometimes it's one or the other for those add on fees, or sometimes you can go down the list and pick all.
00:02:41:39 - 00:02:59:15
Dane Whitcomb
So this is kind of important for how many to select. And then if you also want to have a minimum. So in this case, I want them to not have to choose this fee if they don't want to. So I'm going to keep my minimum at zero, in my max at zero, and I'm going to turn on this prompt for fees during add to cart.
00:02:59:32 - 00:03:20:06
Dane Whitcomb
So that's what's going to actually make it prompt and pop up when I add it to CART and we're going to click Save Oops. And actually my max fees allowed needs to be one or greater, so I'm going to choose one since I'm only going to have one fee in this prompt, I'm going to click select and now I'm going to save the record.
00:03:21:19 - 00:03:47:53

And so now I have three fees once this refresh is here. So the really the only difference between these fees, this one doesn't have any criteria and it has the fee group on it. So if we save our activity and we'll just see what this looks like when we go to charge the program in global sales. So I've got a family member selected and I'm picking one of my bike lesson sections and adding it to CART.
00:03:48:55 - 00:04:13:34
Dane Whitcomb
And as you can see here, this is my manually prompted fee. So the fee group I gave the description as was test fee prompt. So this is where you want to do something, maybe call it manual fees or optional fees, something like that. And then here I could either click continue and if I don't, if I click continue, it's this isn't selected, so I'm not going to be charging them in the $5 add on.
00:04:14:22 - 00:04:37:30
Dane Whitcomb
But if I do, I'm going to be charging them the $5 prompted fee. So now if I click continue, this will put everything in my cart. So as you can see, I've got an $80 amount in my cart. So if I actually select this light line item here, click options and update fees from CART, I can see how it's getting us to that $80.
00:04:37:30 - 00:05:00:49
Dane Whitcomb
So this was a resident family member. So in the background it's still looking at our criteria and charging them $75. But then since we did choose to charge this program lunch fee, it's adding in the $5 to get to 80. So that's just kind of how to use the manual fees. It really just allows you to add optional fees that you can select from at the time of purchase or you don't have to select.
00:05:00:49 - 00:05:06:25

So it just really allows for more flexibility instead of just automatically applying fees to the cart.
