Welcome to Fast Track. In this video, we'll be covering the setup for the Star TSP 100 in RecTrac 10.3. For help setting up the printer itself, please refer to the Star TSP 100 setup in Windows video. For the Star TSP 100 to work in RecTrac 10.3. We need to emulate it comport using the Star TSP software. This allows the Star TSP 100 to be compatible with legacy software solutions without support for USB printers. First, plug the printer into a power source and power it up. In Windows, open up Devices and Printers. Next, right Click on the name of the Star TSP 100 printer and Click Printer Properties. The Printer Properties dialog appears. Select the TSP 100 config tab and Click the launch configuration Application Button. The program will next ask you which emulation you wish to configure either Star Line Mode, the default or ESC / POS mode, choose ESC / POS mode. Next, we will select the serial port from the list on the left. Click Add port to open the port name insertion dialog. Insert a name for the port the name you choose should be comparable with the expected port names of your POS application. For example com3. After entering the name, Click OK and then Click Apply Changes to activate the new name. By default, the port emulator service is disabled. Expand the startup Type and select the automatic then Click start to start the service. After the service is started, Click Check health to perform the port check. This function ensures proper functioning of the specified port. Click Apply Changes highlight the print job routing menu on the right and verify that the Enable ESC / POS routing Toggle is selected. Click Apply changes if needed, then close the program. Now for the RecTrac 10.3 setup we need to create and link a printer device. Go into file maintenance system device maintenance printer and device assignments. Click on Type at the top to sort by Type. Find either star or iTherm in the printer section, and Click the clone Button at the bottom of the Screen. You will next need to create a name for the device it is recommended adding the comport in the name. For example star com3 choose the Toggle list clone and Click clone. Locate the new Star com3 device and open it. Change the description and select is a cash flow attached. If one is physically attached, change the printing option to S. S stands for spooler. Click the Next Button at the bottom of the Screen and Type in the name of the port you set earlier. In this video. We use com3. If you plan on using a drawer that attaches to the printer, set the drawer device to com3 as well. Click done and exit Next we'll go into File maintenance system. Device maintenance device assignments here will link our new device in the upper left expand workstations and highlight the workstation the printer is attached to below in the Device Type drop down select the device Type you want this printer to be used for. POS is used for receipts generated and POS. Receipt is used for receipts generated with the other modules such as activity or pass and auth receipt is used for credit card receipts. In the device to add drop down select the star printer that was created in the previous step. For this video, it was called Star com3. Click Add to link devs. Your printer should now be linked and ready to use. You may link the same printer multiple times using the POS receipt or author receipt device types. Click Exit to exit out of device assignments. And always remember anytime a device is added, removed or changed, you'll need to log out of RecTrac and then log back in for the device to work correctly. Finally, let's test to see if the printer works.
