3.1 Why Trend Analysis reports and Bottom Line reports don't match
Question
When I run a trend analysis report and then a bottom line report for the same date ranges and activities, I get different results. Why is this? Why are these reports different?
Answer
Good question! The simple answer is that they're looking at different numbers. Trend Analysis reports are based on fees paid only (i.e. net revenue). They do not take refunds or other expenses into account. If you are trying to compare a Trend Analysis report to a Bottom Line report for the same module and search criteria (i.e comparing the Activity Trend Analysis report to the Activity Bottom Line report for the same date ranges and Activities/Sections), the totals for income probably will not match because the Trend Analysis shows only net revenue (the money taken in due to fees paid), and the Bottom Line report shows net income (total revenue minus (-) expense/refunds).
