Problem
The Scheduled Event for backing up RecTrac has been running fine for months but suddenly it is not creating the file in the backup location on the server. The event shows it ran at the proper time in the evening and the status is “Active” but no new backup file was created. I then manually ran that same event now and it also did not create a backup file. Looking at the eventlive server log for the event is named "DBBackup" I can see that the event started at:
[23/05/15@12:47:31.111-0500] P-006620 T-011824 1 AS – (Procedure: 'QueueEvents business/schedulerpoll.p' Line:1360) Scheduled event "DBBackup" set to Queued
I don't see any errors in this log although what stands out is I do see it says the event completed a couple of milliseconds later when it normally should take about 10 minutes to create the backup file.
[23/05/15@12:47:31.128-0500] P-004080 T-004204 1 AS – (Procedure: 'MainProcedure Business/EventRun.p' Line:1312) Scheduled event "DBBackup" is complete. This only indicates the event has completed (it may or may not have been successful).
Solution
In this case, the destination drive of C:\vs3\backup only had 100 GB of free disk space, and the backup needed 115 GB of space. Progress checks available space first and if not enough, the backup will terminate. You will need to free up disk space on that hard drive location before attempting another backup.
Steps For Solution
- From the RecTrac main menu, go to Profile Assignments.
- Highlight the Backup Profile linked to the ZZZ users hierarchy.
- Click Update.
- Make note of the Backup Folder.
- On the RecTrac server, navigate to that location/drive and free up space by deleting unnecessary files, old backups, or allocating more disc space through any appropriate processes.
Return to Scheduled Events Management and manually run the backup event. The event should complete successfully and a fresh backup should now exist in the target location/drive.
